UPVC Top Hung Windows
With one key exception, top hung windows are similar to regular casement windows. Awning windows pivot on top-mounted hinges, whilst casement windows pivot on side-mounted hinges. It can be used on its own or in tandem with other windows.
They are very beneficial for ventilation. They are higher in the wall, allowing for more natural light and airflow while maintaining privacy. In addition, high positioning offers for the most wall space for design elements like art and furniture layout. They provide about 100% functional ventilation while preventing water from seeping into the home.

Installation
- Both the inside and outside of window/door connecting walls should be plastered. There must be no obstructions in the hollow where the new window will be put. The sill must be well plastered.
- Each window should be shimmed to the plumb level suitably and properly.
- The cavity should be measured in three places, both in width and height, as shown below, with a maximum and lowest size difference of 12 mm in width and height.
- The breadth of the sill should be more than the width of the window frame.
- To be provided clear guidance whether the window should be flushed inside or externally, and how much space should be left outside or inside if the sill level is higher.
- Only after one coat of paint has been applied should the installation begin; no plaster of Paris work should be done on the window's joining face to the wall.
